Marketing Pace Accelerates as Season Winds Down

Hasakah remains one of Syria's principal grain-producing regions, and the Grain Trade Establishment depends heavily on its output to secure supplies for subsidized bread and flour programs. Abdul Hamid Daoud, director of the establishment's Hasakah branch, confirmed that collection centers are still receiving roughly 30,000 tons of wheat daily, with cumulative deliveries reaching 845,000 tons of both hard and soft wheat as of Saturday. Several centers have each received over 60,000 tons, including Al-Milbiya, the Hasakah silo, the Sabah al-Khair silos in the countryside, and the Kabka, Tawariji, Tal Hamis, and Qahtaniyah centers near Qamishli. These volumes are directly tied to the state's ability to build a strategic wheat reserve, a factor that plays a central role in stabilizing bread and food prices nationwide.

As the harvest season draws to a close, agricultural officials expect a gradual decline in the daily volumes reaching collection centers. Farmers and government bodies alike are now awaiting a final, precise tally that will determine this year's level of wheat self-sufficiency compared to previous seasons.
